Paper Cone Wall Art

Updated: Jul 6, 2020

You all might be getting a lot of magazines/flyers through post. I’m sure at least those who live in US would surely agree with me. Mine was no different than any other household that received these ads/flyers etc. When my collection reached the peak of irritation that I was unable to manage those on my magazine rack, I thought I should use them to make some décor rather than dumping them to trash. It was at that moment that I was reminded of something similar that I saw on a blog – It was made of old withered book pages. Though I already possessed one, I didn’t have the heart to tear it apart just to make a décor out of it to please my eyes. So I ended up using a health insurance/medicine magazine which we received through mail and was absolutely French to me (predominantly because I wasn’t interested in it and believe me there is another reason to it which I’d reveal to the world today - way back from my school days I was never ever a medicine girl- had absolutely zero interest in it ;) I guess now you all know why I selected that particular category of magazine. He He He). I knew that if I tore its pages it and made paper cone out of them it might not be that appealing to one’s eyes. Hence thought of staining the pages with cotton dipped in  tea decoction or tea bag. I had some tea bags at home which we were no longer using (as Sam found a tea leaves brand that suited taste buds – not mine coz I don’t drink Tea/Coffee). So I thought of dipping the same in water and running over all the pages of the magazine with some extra liquid for the corners of each page. Once all the pages dried, I was quite impressed by the end product. Another thing that I did to define my own Janeor and to make it more attractive and reusable was - I cut some circular boards, stuck vulcro behind them and in front of the board stuck different stuffs, so that I could change them according to my taste or based on the color scheme/theme of our room as and when desired. Consequently I ended up making single wall art with multiple centerpiece designs, hence making my Janeor a reusable one, instead of creating multiple such wall art which would end up in additional overhead of storage. I am indeed quite impressed with the idea of reusing the same for multiple occasion/color themes for my room.
