Won a prize in a unique art competition which provided us participants - a mystery bag. @ Post Road Art Center, Marlborough '2017.
Each participant received an identical bag containing a variety of supplies. Using only the supplies in the bag (including the bag if needed), each artist was expected to create a unique piece of art showcasing his or her creativity and ingenuity. We were supposed to use the supplies provided to come up with our submission that was judged by live/online viewers. Think of it as a unique art competition where everyone is challenged at the same time, and where one is supposed to think out of the box not within his/her own usual art style. It forced us to think a little differently about all that was supplied to us and think creatively to come up with something interesting.
As far as I remember what each participant received was - a white string bag with a stretched board canvas, red crayon, black crayon, small tubes of blue and silver paint, a small piece of wire, some glass bead gel and (acrylic medium) a molding paste.
I submitted my creation (above 3D art) and to my surprise I did win a prize as well.
I know many of you want to ask me how I made the 3D boat jutting out of the canvas board. :) WELL!! Do you remember I just mentioned small tubes? I poured the paint out in a small container and cut that empty tube and used it to build the hull of my sail boat. I used the wire as mast and the plastic bag in which the supplies came along with its string to make the sail. I glued the model of my half sail boat with the molding paste. I used up the rest of the supplies to create a light house, and the sea scape and TADAAAA!!!!!!!!
